It's a connector
A native of Southern California, I grew up on the beach and in the ocean. I was a multi-sport athlete from a young age that spanned from gymnastics and surfing to soccer and track. Yet, it was volleyball that took my heart and enabled me to play and coach at the High School, Club, College, and International levels.
After battling cancer three times and spending years recovering from chemotherapy, I thought my athletic days were over. I began to accept that my body may never fully recover. But then in 2017, I found pickleball. Or maybe pickleball found me.
From the moment the plastic ball hit my wooden paddle on the gym floors of a YMCA, I was hooked. What I loved was that pickleball was easy enough to meet me at the level I could give it, while difficult enough to keep coming back.
Since then, I’ve become a 5.0 player and US Open Medalist in 5.0 Doubles. In 2017, I began coaching again and have found tremendous joy in working with my students. I run my own program locally, and help grow pickleball communities around the world. I really have the greatest job!
